Welcome! I am an independent, certified appraiser, specializing in twentieth to twenty-first century fine art, decorative arts and personal property. I am a Board Alumni and an active member of the Appraisers Association of America, Inc., the oldest non-profit professional association of personal property appraisers, founded in 1949. I provide the highest professional standards of appraisal and appraisal consulting services to individual or corporate clients throughout the country.
All appraisals are written in compliance with the most current Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the standards and Code of Ethics of the Appraisers Association of America (AAA.) When seeking an appraiser, especially for IRS Estate or Donation appraisals, it is important to choose a USPAP compliant appraiser. Additionally, AAA members must pass examinations in ethics, theory and methodology as well as in their field of expertise.
Prior to completing the NYU Certificate Program in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts in 2003, I was armed with an Art History B.A., a Certificate in Interior Design, a partnership in running a contemporary gallery plus years of experience working in the art & design related fields. My professional studies continue with courses in specific connoisseurship and staying informed of the latest USPAP standards and IRS regulations. In addition to my appraisal and consulting services, I teach Appraisal Writing, originally at NYU and currently at the Appraisers Association of America. Ethics and continued education are essential to my practice. As a former owner of a contemporary art gallery in New York City, I also understand and appreciate a client’s need for confidentiality and trust.
